Finding Files.

This command will return any file with the file name or a file that part of the string of characters in it. Quick easy and painless. On most systems this returns an answer very quickly and no need to wait for the system to search the hard drive.

Mounting drives and network connection on boot (fstab)

Change Routes

Reboot with out a Reboot

Change Text Logon to a GUI Logon in RedHat.

Setting the graphical login can be accomplished several ways.

  1. Linuxconf.  For Red Hat Linux 7, Choose Boot Mode-> Mode-> Default boot
mode.  Change from Text mode to Graphic.
For Red Hat Linux 6.2, choose Config-> Miscellaneous services->Initial
system services.  Change from run level 3, the shell login, to run level 5,
    the GUI login
  2. Edit your /etc/inittab, changing the line that says id:3:initdefault: to
    id:5:initdefault:
  3. Re-run xconfigurator and when it asks if you want the GUI login, tell it
    yes.

Simply choose the opposite of the above actions to change from the GUI login to the text login.Once you have changed your runlevel, you will need to reboot before it takes effect.
